Chen ChuSheng – Forgetful World

Chen ChuSheng, winner of Superboy Singing Contest in 2007, sang promotional theme song for Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame. Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame is set just before Wu ZeTian (Carina Lau) formally ascends the throne in 689 CE, when she established the Second Zhou Dynasty (周朝, 690-705 CE) that briefly interrupted the Tang Dynasty (唐朝, 618-907 CE). At the time, Tang Dynasty is witnessing one of its most prosperous era and European dignitaries travel thousands of miles to visit the great empire for trade and cultural exchange. The Lion Roars 2 Delayed Release Date

Director Joe Ma‘s upcoming comedy The Lion Roars 2 won’t be released for the February 14th, 2012 scheduled date. The film hasn’t received China’s approval process which it can take some time. The Lion Roars 2 stars Cecilia Cheung, Xiao Shenyang, Huang Weide, Ding Zi-Shuo, and Qi Ji. It’s a period drama comedy set during the Three Kingdoms period about the story of a strategist Zhuge Liang (Xiao ShenYang) and his wife Huang YueYing (Cecilia Cheung). Production began last year on July 3rd in Ningbo, east China’s Zhejiang Province.

Wuxia

Wuxia is set during the transition period of Qing Dynasty to ChungHwa Republic in 1917. At a hospitable Liu Village on the border of southwestern China’s Yunnan province, a humble paper-maker Liu JinXi (Donnie Yen) lives an idyllic life with his loyal wife Ayu (Tang Wei) and their two young sons XiaoTian (Li JiaMin) and FangZheng (Zheng Wei). Liu JinXi is a simple man from a secluded village and he has settled at Liu Village for the last five years after he married then single mother Ayu. Lu Chuan’s the Last Supper in Post Production

The Lu Chuan directed version of the “Feast at Hong Gate” finished filming last November 5th, 2011. Now, The Last Supper (王的盛宴) is post production stage and no confirm schedule of release other than sometimes this year. The Last Supper is a story about two warring generals fighting for control of China at the end of the Qin Dynasty. It also centers on the legendary “Feast at Hong Gate” (206 BCE) where Xiang Yu invited his long time mentor Liu Bang to a banquet with the intention of assassinating him. “Feast at Hong Gate” has become a Chinese expression for an invitation to a meal that has sinister implications. The film stars Liu Ye as Liu Bang and Daniel Wu as Xiang Yu. Chang Chen plays the role of another historical figure, Han Xin. Actresses in the film include Qin Lan and Mini Yang with popular comedienne Yan Ni who also joined the cast.

Ronny Yu’s Saving General Yang

Director Ronny Yu’s mega-budget period drama war movie Saving General Yang is scheduled for October 2012 release. It’s one of most anticipated wuxia genre films slated for 2012. Production began in August 19th of last year in Kaifeng, Henan Province, China. This ¥ 170 million movie is a collaboration of Film and Television Production Group Co., Ltd., Huayi Brothers Media Corporation, and Pegasus Film Production Co Ltd (Hong Kong). Based on a hugely successful series of books and plays, the film has twice been adapted for television in Hong Kong and so anticipation for a big screen version is expected to be high. Glory Days Finished Filming

Upcoming Eric Tsang’s Glory Days wrapped filming in Yunnan, China. The film brings together many of the veteran Hong Kong movie stars with cast of Felix Wong, Ray Lui, Guo Tao, Gigi Leung, Ni HongJie, Max Mok and Ti Lung. The late of the Qing Dynasty turmoil is the background of Glory Days’ storyline. It’s about a group of heroes hoping to regain the ‘glory days’ of their golden age. No release date has been announced.

Tracing Shadow

Tracing Shadow began at the end of the Ming Dynasty (大明), the Empire was in turmoil and chaos reigned.  Meanwhile at the northern frontier, the Manchurian were poised to advance upon the Imperial City. Within this barren frontier, YeHe ChangGong (Francis Ng) who was a Mongolian swordsman dueled with NaLan, a Manchurian warrior, for the title of Supreme Martial Art Master. Painted Skin 2 is a highly anticipated movie for 2012. It’s been months since it completed its production stages, but so far the producers are only releasing promo poster and concept trailer.
