Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao Hsien is directing wuxia genre film, The Assassin. It’s a blockbuster film which boast of a US$10,000,000 production cost with stars studded lineup Shu Qi, Chang Chen and Tetsuya Komuro. Rumor has it, The Assassin will mark the return of veteran actress Maggie Cheung, who will be getting approximately US$1,500,000 to portray the role of heroine, Nie Yin Niang.

The Sword Identity Released Date
Xu HaoFeng directorial debut, The Sword Identity, will be released on February 24, 2012. Xu HaoFeng, who wrote the script for Wong Kar Wai’s the Grandmasters, had the premiere of his movie in Venice and Toronto Film Festivals late last year. He also handled the choreograph of the film. Chen ChuSheng – Forgetful World
Chen ChuSheng, winner of Superboy Singing Contest in 2007, sang promotional theme song for Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame. He eventually did the theme song for the film, but it’s not as popular as the promo. Forgetful World is included in 2nd Album, Legend of the Shadow released in December, 2010. Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame is set just before Wu ZeTian (Carina Lau) formally ascends the throne in 689 CE, when she established the Second Zhou Dynasty (周朝, 690-705 CE) that briefly interrupted the Tang Dynasty (唐朝, 618-907 CE). At the time, Tang Dynasty is witnessing one of its most prosperous era and European dignitaries travel thousands of miles to visit the great empire for trade and cultural exchange. The Lion Roars 2 Delayed Release Date
Director Joe Ma‘s upcoming comedy The Lion Roars 2 won’t be released for the February 14th, 2012 scheduled date. The film hasn’t received China’s approval process which it can take some time. The Lion Roars 2 stars Cecilia Cheung, Xiao Shenyang, Huang Weide, Ding Zi-Shuo, and Qi Ji. It’s a period drama comedy set during the Three Kingdoms period about the story of a strategist Zhuge Liang (Xiao ShenYang) and his wife Huang YueYing (Cecilia Cheung). Production began last year on July 3rd in Ningbo, east China’s Zhejiang Province.
