Filmko announced October 15th, 2010 as the official release date for the US$ 11 million adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes’ Spanish literary classic, Don Quixote (唐吉可德). Produced by the Chinese Academy of Science, it’s filmed in 3D with consultants from Germany.
Directed by Ah Gan, the 17th century Spanish novel is adapted into Tang Dynasty era starred Liu Ye and Karena Lam. The main plot is about an ancient Chinese warrior, Zhang Jian, telling the story of his survival. Don Quixote is China’s first movie filmed entirely in 3D. Ah Gan claimed the movie used the same technology by James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar.
